Default 88 accord dx

Just picked up a 88 accord in mint condition with only 40000 original miles and absolutely mint interior....old lady had it from day one and has every receipt for everything done to it its whole live....Car has sat awhile and ran rough as hell but shes purrin now..Should i replace the timing belt because of dry rot or being its under cover dont sweat it untill another 40000 miles.and how do i check and change transmistion fluid...any input will help me out 100% im new to the site but not new to hondas..I just sold my 3rd gen prelude and got this 88 accord for my everyday runners but i have a 07 civic si as my going out family car.

What all did you have to do to get it to purr again? Is it fuel injection or carburetor? I just picked one up too. It's an 88 with carb and auto tranny. It's not idling quite right and I'm going thru every post on this sight for an answer.

I took it to a mechanic friend of mine and he said the t belt was fine and don't waste the money now...I changed all the plugs, wires, cap and rotor.. Cleans the carb and air cleaner..... It still starts and runs rough at the initial start up but it smooths out as it warms up... But after it warms up it runs perfect... I've put 30,000 miles on it allready,my job is 130 miles round trip everyday.
