Default 89 accord Check engin Light (CEL)

So I can see there are many posts for CEL on accord. I took the 89 accord to a mechanic and he did a read out only to find that cylinder 1 had a misfire.. The plugs are new so he suggested to replace the wires, which we did,,They also suggested the gas cap, which we replaced. CEL is back on . I found a post that listed a web page to manually read the codes by jumpering a plug under the dash. Does anyone know of such a post for an 89 accord? I hate asking technical questions without all the data. Thanks

On the old ones (like '89) do you have to jumper anything? Or does the LED flash anyway as long as the CEL is on?

The ecu is located under the driver seat, the window to read the code is facing the rear so you have to slide the seat all the way forward ,
the # of blinking is the same # as the code, there is no long blink and short blinks,, so whatever it blinks that's the code, there is a 2 seconds pause between 1 code and the next, so make sure to have it repeat at least 2-3 times to make sure that there is only one code or more than 1
