OK, I have a '90 coupe with a 2.2 and auto tranny, the tranny is doing some wierd stuff. There is a little "sport" button on the side of the shifter that when pressed in, a little green "S" lights up on the cluster and it revs to a higher RPM in each gear before shifting. My problem is, sometimes Ill get into the car, and the little "S" is light up in the cluster without pressing in the sport button, and when in park, without my foot on the brake, I hear a constant relay clicking coming from behind the dash, but that stops when I press the brake or take it out of park. Then, when I put it into drive it is stuck in second or third gear and wont automatically downshift, I can drop it down into first manually, then shift it to second , manually, but cant go to third or fourth. This is an intermittant problem, but is getting more and more frequent. Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong with it? Id also like to know of a good place in fort worth to take it to get the tranny rebuilt after I fix this problem.

Sounds like a bad control unit.

 

how can i find out for sure? where can I get a new or used control unit?
