Ok, so I am driving in to work today and the weirdest thing happned.
1. My spedometer was stuck @ o. Not sure what is up with that. When I hit the brakes it fluttered and finally started working. I will know a little more when I leave work.
2. The CEL has been coming on and off since I bought the car about 2 weeks ago. I haven't gotten it check out yet, but it could be just a sensor throwing something off??
3. The S light started flashing yesterday. When I shut the car off it stopped. I drove to work this morning and it started again about half-way to work.

The car has 259,000!! It has a new timing, water pump, battery, starter, alternator, and a bunch of other stuff. The lady also said that the tranny was replaced not to long ago. Not sure on the exact date.

Any suggestions for trouble-shooting would be greatly appreciated!

try changing the tranny fluid, also take a look at the main relay, and have the TCM checked out. those would be the 3 easiest culprits to start with.

 

Thanks chief! I have worked on Vdubs, Nissans and domestics, but this is my first Honda. Is there a tranny drain plug? If so where is that located? Got any links to a chilton's/maintenance guide? I think I will stop by Oreilly's tonight or tomorrow to get the CEL checked out.

 

Fault Vehicle Speed Sensor or the wire is lose. This causes the speedometer to read 0 and also throws the CEL light. More then likely its your culprit.

a good haynes or chiltons manual will do fine. the transmission does have a drain plug on the side facing the tire. its only a plug the filter is internal and non accessible.
