Default 91 honda accord code 43

Having problems with hestation when taking off and when under load. So far i have replace the distributer cap and rotor, ignition coil, spark plugs and wires, valve cover gasket and o-rings around spark plug tubes becasuse they were leaking. Then just changed the oil and the fuel filter. Car is still hesitating under load sometimes. It is intermittent. I did a little bit of research and checked the codes on the ecm. It had a code 43 stored in the ecm for fuel supply system. Check engine light very rarely comes on though. It hasnt come on for a while. I've looked at other posts and people are saying it has something to do with the O2 sensor or main relay. Any ideas?

unlikely the O2 will cause the driveability issue, the troubleshooting for code 43 is vague at best and refers you symptom diagnosis. my best guess would be distributor replacement.

I've heard of ignitors causing the same issue.

Well the ignitor would probably be cheaper and easier to replace right? And is there anyway to test the distributor? Plus i went out today and checked the codes again and i had code 43 still and then there was a long pause and a short blink of the check engine light. So i figured that ment there was another code stored in the ecm which would be code 1 for oxygen content. So then i reset the ecm by disconneceting the battery terminals, reconnected then drove the car for a few miles still had the same problem with losing power and hesitating under load or taking off. So i checked the codes again and when i turned the key on it was just a solid check engine light. Does that mean there are no codes on the ecm?

solid light means no codes.

One thing you could try is to go to your local junk yard and get a used distributor, I bought one for 70 and it was cheaper then the parts inside, so I just swapped parts.

Here is a good page with tests for both the igniter and the ignition coil. It says if both tests come up good then replace the distributor.

Code 43 usually means the O2 sensor is not providing correct info. A new O2 sensor is $28 + shipping from RockAuto.

good luck

Well i replaced everything inside the distributor except the ignitor so far. But my dad is the one who put the ignition coil in and he said he couldnt get the mounting screws for the ignition coil to fit back in with the new coil installed. so i might check that. And that other guy said earlier that the O2 sensor probably wouldnt be whats causing the lose of power and hesitation. But i have seen both the ignitor and O2 sensors mentioned on other posts. Is there any easy way to test the O2 sensor?
