Default 92 Accord ABS Code

Hi everyone I just jumpered the connection on the pass side for the diagnosis of why my ABS light comes on 10-20 sec after I start driving. The ABS light came on for like 2 sec, then went out, then flashed once, pause, flash once, pause then flashed once again, then didnt light back up until I cycled the ignition switch. So Im either getting a code 1 or code 11. In either case, what does this code mean?? I cant find any straight forward answers in regard to this code and basically, what needs to be done to get the ABS to work again??

I really appreciate any replies to this!!

Brian

That is a code 1 for pump overrun. For starters, check the brake fluid level in the ABS modulator. You may have to add fluid if it is low.

Add fluid, and/or bleed the ABS. In fact you might as well bleed the whole brake system if you haven't done that in a couple years.

I will definitely do that. I also read another post on here where u actually jumper the ABS motor and let it run for no more than 10 sec. I did this and the motor kicked in and it made a "humming" noise. Is this normal?

I did put a new modulator/accumulator (the whole assembly with that reservoir thing) in from a junkyard and it was bled the best we could do but i assume u have to use that special honda tool to do it correctly?

There's a pressure switch to shut off the motor without over-pressurizing the system. I worry that jumpering directly to the motor might run the pressure up too high?

Look for a post in DIY about bleeding the ABS.

Modulator pump is a reciprocating piston type and noise is more of a buzz than a hum. If just a hum, the motor may not be able to drive the pump.

Junk yard modulators are cheap, but sometimes you get a bad one. I've had that experience.

good luck
