Default 92 accord ex

Hello all im new here and i was just hoping i can get some help. I have a 92 accord ex that wont pass emissions (HC) is 1.07 aloud 1.00, (NOX) is 5.24 aloud 2.50, and im getting really bad gas milage. Now I have cleaned out the egr passeges in the intake but the engine light code is still reading that the egr is still not working. What can I do to get this to pass and make the engine light go away? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Can you check the solenoid for the egr valve to be sure it is working- this is the solenoid that opens and allows vac to the actual egr valve to open it.

It is in the "black box" on the pass side - right at the firewall.

Suggest you download the manual for this car too help with testing.

A few simple things you can try. At idle, pull the #16 vac line from the egr valve. Is there vac on that line?

Next, still at idle. What happens if you add vac to the egr valve side of the hose?

When you cleaned the ports in the intake, how many of the "plugs" did you pull. Did you drill all the way thru any of them?

Ok guys I got the engine light to go away and the car is running great, also I replaced the egr selenoid, and the emissions numbers went down from being out the roof to HC being .61 allowed 1.00, CO being 11.02 allowed 12.00,and NOX being 2,64 allowed 2.50. Now ive done a complete tune up on it and it still wont pass the nox. What else can I do???

Retard the spark timing just a tiny bit. Should lower NOx but it'll probably raise HC.

Another possibility is carbon buildup in cylinder. Seafoam treatment might help that.

Hello all I just wanted to thank everyone who helped and gave me some ideas to why my car wouldnt pass emissions. It passed with flying colors and the engine light is gone and the car runs like a dream. Now that I know what I did to get it to pass maybe I can help someone else now.
