Water pump is essentially a timing belt job without replacing the belt, which I would do since it's all taken apart anyways. Labor should be 3-5 hours.

Yup.. Changing the timing belt will be highly recommended... Your probably looking at a total cost of
Belt- 30
W.P-60(new)
Labor-200 give or take..
Always helps to have a buddy who knows a thing or to. Saves a mess of money.

the lady i got the car from, said they did a timing belt back in april this year. but her tech didnt do the water pump.... jack ***. i have always heard of doing the timing belt and water pump at the same time. they also did a valve cover gasket. but i had to replace the one they put on. ive seen 2 year olds that have more smarts about cars. they must of put a whole tub of rtv on it. took me forever to get it all off. when i did the valve cover gasket the timing belt looked good. not cracked or missing any teeth.
has anyone out there done the egr guide tube plugs? i heard of them cloging up and needing to go in there and clean them up.
thanks to all that replyed to this.

EGR guide tube plugs? As in the EGR ports on the intake manifold? Most Hondas will need them cleaned out at least once in their lifetime... I've done it, very simple. In fact, there may even be a DIY guide in the DIY Section.
Well a water pump will cost ya $60 new/$40 reman and the labor will probably stay the same.
The timing belt is not that expensive... I'd replace it anyways while you're in there, just to avoid getting forked into replacing pistons and valves.

If the lady has the receipt for the parts and labor on the timing belt job, I would wait for the water pump to start leaking before replacing it. Who knows? You might get several more years out of it. Then do the entire job.

^ It may or may not leak, but over time the fins wear down and don't pump enough water through, which we all know will lead to overheating/blown head gasket/headaches.
