Thanks Poorman, that is a great link. I think because the CEL works perfectly, it is not the key/switch.
Yes, Texas...my new indicator lamp is wired in the trunk at the fuel pump connector; so, I can see the lamp lit whenever the pump is getting 12vdc. My one and only problem is occasionally the pump is not getting +12v (even when the CEL is on during the power-up process). Unless someone has a solution which accounts for the fully-functioning CEL and no power to the fuel pump...I'll do the relay job. |
I'd re-solder the main relay. The CEL comes on from the ECU, it doesn't need the main relay to power that lamp. The failure of the main relay is just the circuit that powers the fuelpump. A flaky main relay won't prevent the CEL from coming on for 2 seconds.

Jim,
That is what I thought. Will do. Thanks. |
Final report.
I bought an OEM relay from Majestic Honda, and it solved the problem. Three months of trouble-free starts. Eventually, I'll re-solder the old one as a back up. Thanks everyone. Roy |
Excellent - thanks for letting us know.
