hey whats up people?

im having an issue i keep pulling up code 9 from my check engine light i was told it could be the distributor. so i went and grab one at auto zone which cost me a pretty penny and the check engine light is still on and i reset it i checked the spark plugs and wires i need help thanks again

Code 9 is for the CYP sensor which is inside the distributor. Since a new distributor didn't fix it, the problem is likely a bad wiring connection.

Check for loose/dirty/corroded plugs for the wiring harness. I think in that generation these circuits also go through a big connector near the left-front shock tower?

That's why I always like to suggest testing before replacing parts.

I think the signal wires for those sensors are shielded; just so you're aware before trying to splice wires.

There is an important ground bolted to the thermostat housing. Unbolt the ground, clean the bolt and eyelet with a wire brush or sand paper, then reattach.

You can test the resistance of the CYP sensor at the distributor and at the ECU. If the resistance is the same, then suspect a bad ECU. A bad ECU is not common, but happens.

Do you have a volt meter to read the resistance?

CYP should be the ORG and WHT wires in/into the dist.......what is the resistance between these two wires?
