Yikes, don't drive down the road at 50mph and throw it in reverse. You might already took out the reverse hub and sleeve. But take it to a trans shop for 2nd opinion like poorman said.

Hi all and thank you for your replies even though i didn't really like the answer!!sorry for the double posts i didn't quite know how this forum works!!so ya the girl took it to the mechanic and the gear box is F******d!! the mechanic says it'll be $3300 for a trans i asked the girl was it a new trans and she said she didn't know that she "assumed so"! I would have thought a new transmission would be a lot more expensive than that does anyone know roughly how much a new transmission for a 2001 to 2003 accord?? or how much would a second hand one cost?? I've a funny feeling she's getting a second hand transmission and getting ripped off for it??!! what are your views on this? or am i just being a tight ass??!!

Where is your location ? I'm in Mass and the price for a 98-02 Accord rebuild transmission with 1 yr warranty is around $2200.

Important to get the year. the 98 to 02 are known to have issues and might be harder to find. If an 03 or later then things could look better......
