93 Auto Fourth Gear Slippage

Hi Guys...Any help would be appreciated...Car upshifts and downshifts perfectly. It's only in top gear (cruising on highway) that tranny randommly and mildly lurches, or momentarily hesitates or feels like it's slipping and then continues motoring just fine until the next time...Fluid has always been changed at proper times and has never dropped too low or changed color.

Any suggestions as to the cause and to why only in fourth gear?....Thanks.

PS. At times it appears it happens just when you accelerate ever so softly ..othertimes just while randommly cruising ??

Is the tach reacting?

Check for any stored codes.

Next time this happens, note what rpm range the engine is running at.

Poorman 212,

No the tach is not responding in any way.
I do not have an OBD1 reader. I can't check for codes unfortunately.

I have to apologize Poorman212. I have been both sick and did not have available internet access available to get back to you in a timely fashion.

Thanks you for your response. Not sure how to proceed as the problem still persists. Is it possible a fuel pressure regulator problem? that's just a far fetched guess actually?

you can check the codes using a paperclip.

Read the Sticky on the top of "general tech" it will show you how to do it.
