I had the same problem before..It was the Main relay and the Ground wire for the ECU unit.

so you said you pushed down on the battery cable and it started right up,then it died 5 min later. did you try and push down the battery cable again?

amuse us - push the cruise control button and try to start it.

No I have not. I plan to as soon as I can get around to it but that requires getting my brother in law to help me and both of us are strapped for time. I kind of doubt that the main relay is the problem from what Ive read of the symptoms. it usually fails when the car or outside temp is hot if it's a main relay problem and the temp is definitely cold here. I will test it though, along with the spark plugs, and ECU.

that sucks about the cruise control test. i've had several accords like yours with the honda security system that was deactivated when the cruise control button was depressed. i never installed them so i didn't know why. the customer was shocked they forgot about it. i was like....um....well, ok....

you need to chk to see if it is lack of sprk or fuel...

get a can of brake cleaner, carb cleaner do not use starter fuild,,,,,,remove the intake hose at throttle body,, open the butterfly , spray some carb cleaner in the throttle body,, better yet have a friend try starting ther car while you spray it is there..

if it starts ,, it is lack of fuel, then we can chk to see if the fuel pump is getting any power

to chk for spark ,, pull a plug wire off, insert a screwdriver in the end, make sure that screwdriver is properly ground ( the ground wire at valve cover works good) have a friend try to start the car while you chk for spark ..

Also, chk all the fuses in the underhood fuse box ...

let us know ..
