93 lx stock motor swap question
 

I have a 93 lx with a h22 a1 non vtec. I have found a h22b1 vtec complete with tranny, ecu, and harness for my car. Should this be a straight pull the old one out and put the new one in swap? Or are there some major issues i need to address? One of my concerns is the motor and tranny mounts, seeing how both are h series motors, they should be the same right?

Well I'm a little confused, I think you meant you have an f22a1, and found a f22b1.

How easy it is to swap in will depend on what year the f22b1 is. If its 94 or 95 it will be a whole lot easier than 96 or 97.

I will say that it is from the older years per say........will the mounts still be the same? I am on a limited budget at the moment, and i believe 400 bucks for the whole swap is pretty cheap, but, i dont want to get it and then have my dd down for two weeks waiting on parts and such.

This isn't some big secret you have to keep.

It is simple, what motor do you currently have and what motor are you putting on?

Also if you car is currently running (as you say it is your daily driver) why are you changing the motor in first place per say???

So some straight answers from you will make it easier for us to give you some straight answers per say...

What i meant was that the motor im putting in would be from 94 or 95 not 96 or 97 like he stated in his post. Hence the "older years per say". Im am unsure as to what the motor exactly came out of. I just took a guesstimate. As for the reason for the swap, part of my love for Honda's is vtec. The motor i have is non vtec, and the motor i found is a vtec. The person that has it, want to sell everything, not just peice it out, or else i would just ask for the head. Also, my tranny hace a 3rd gear issue that needs attention, and seeing how both motors are f series, the parts should be interchangeable.

so it is an F series vtec or an H series vtec? - those are 2 different motors.

H series Vtec is for producing more power the F series vtec is for better gas mileage.

If you are swapping in a F series vtec you WILL NOT have a faster car.

How do I tell the difference between the two? That is something that i have no clue about. I have always though that an "f" series was for example " f22" and a "h" series was an "h22".... I appreciate the engine specs crispin, seeing how you have helped me in the past, I am all ears to what u have to say.

it is stamped on the block on the front towards the transmission side.

If your transmission is bad I can understand replacing it but it is way too much work (ecu, new wiring) to just put a F series V - tec in your car.

The pic would be appreciated, i will also have to take a look at my block as well. It simply seemed like a "cheap" fix at the time, as well as a little more horses at the same time. Thanks for all the info crispin!
