Default 94 EX

I have a 94 Accord EX that when the engine is cold the RPM's are up high, then it drops alittle and the idle oscillates up and down until the engine warms up or you put it in gear, it doesn't do it when the engine is warm. Any help would be appreciated.

It's probably the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) or the FITV (Fast Idle Thermo Valve). One thing you can do is take off both valves and clean the carbon build-up in them. In the FITV there is a plunger that slowly closes as coolant warms up, it may be stuck shut (or open). It's a fairly simple task to remove them, you only need a 10mm socket and extension, but the space to work in is cramper. Both valves are located next to each other on the back side of the intake manifold and the front of the firewall.

bet its the fast idle thermo valve, i had the same prob with my 91 accord. its really easy to get at, right on the side of the throttle body. when you check it unscrew the 2 screws on top of it, pull the cover off and you will see a plastic valve seat that screws into the valve body. make sure that the valve seat is tightened all the way down into the valve body cause i bet yours vibrated loose and is letting way too much air into the throttle body. $0 fix.

Okay, that sounds waaaay different than the 5th gen he has and what I had.

00indn, what engine are you running? There are easily 3 10mm bolts holding the FITV to the intake mani.
