95-96 f22b2 differences, i need help
hello accord gurus, i need some help here. iswapped out an f22b2 from a 95 automatic accord and put it in a 96 that also had an f22b2 but with a manual tranny.i used thewire harness from the 96, the man trans from a 96 and i put it in. everything looks the same but i noticed the engine from the 96 has some wires coming from the timing belt cover that plug into the 96 harness and the 95 doesnt have these. well so far i am getting no spark and i think it has something to do with these wires not being connected. if anyone has any info on this subject it would be greatly appreciated. i dont understand how a motor with the same engine code could be different but the are. i look forward to hearing any feedback, thank you.....dave

I think 96 was the first year for OBDII - the 95 motor would be missing some sensors. You'll probably want the ECU and harness from the 95, though the ECU may be different for MT and AT.

White95 is right, 96' is the first year that the Accord went to OBDII. On the 96' engine, if those wires are coming out of the bottum portion of the cover closest to the firewall, they should be the wires for the CKP and TDC sensors which are located on the oil pump housing which is behind the cover in the timing area. On a 95', those two sensor plus the CYP sensor are all built into the distributor. All this info. is out of a Haynes manual. I don't know what CKP or CYP stands for. The book says the the CKP determines the timing for fuel injection and ignition on each cylinder. The CYP determines the position of the cylinder for sequential fuel injection to each cylinder. To be honest, it's all a little over my head, but that is probably what the wires are for.

im thinking he might need to get a 95 5 speed computer to make this car run. i will see if he has the 95 automatic ecu and try to plug that in to see if the car will start. i wonder if it will plug right in to the same harness. thank you for all the replies so far guys, i want to get this job done and get it the hell out of my garage. .......................dave

RE: 95-96 f22b2 differences, i need help
this is probably the most helpful tip ive got so far. i havent had any time to look at it this week but im looking to get this job done this weekend. this got me thinking if i usethedistributor from the95 motor it should have those sensors inside it. i looked at the 95 distributor and it has eight terminals on the plug. the 96 only has four terminals. im guessing the other four wires on the 95 distributor are for those sensors and if i can figure out the right way to wire it im thinking i can get it to work. my only problem is that all i have is a crappy manual without a good wiring diagram. if anyone thinks they have any useful info for me id appreciate it. thanks for all the replys..............dave

I would think you'd want the 95 distributor and harness for simplicity. I have heard that the ECU for MT and AT are not the same, but I've also heard that there are no ECU connections to the MT. Sorry I can't be more help with that.
