96 accord - door lock controller or actuator?
New member here with a question.
1996 Honda Accord sedan. Power door locks. Today when I when I parked the car and tried to lock it, the doors locked (all the lock ***** went down as normal), but then the electric lock mechanism keeps engaging over and over again (as if it doesn't recognize that the door is already locked). The problem is specific to the driver's door lock. If it is in the "down" position (via switch, key, or manually pushed) then the constant locking cycle problem is engaged. Why does the door lock mechanism not "know" that it is already locked?
So, as I understand it, the actuator moves the lock ***** up and down electrically. This seems to work, and I've tested that the door is actually locked and unlocked from the outside, so the problem should not be the actuator or any disconnected rods inside the door. Which leads me to...
1. What does the "controller" do?
2. Can this be the problem?
3. If so, how to fix it? (Is the part expensive?)
4. Is it possible to pull a fuse that is specific to the door locks and just have "manual" door locks that work just fine?
Thanks.
