Default 96 accord doors lock automatically

We have a 96 Accord with power door locks. If you leave the keys in the car and close the doors after a few moments the doors lock by themselves. My son is taking it off to college and I want to disable this "feature". Any ideas?

I know there is a way to do it Im just not sure how...someone else should chime in to help you out. Seach around on google and see if you find anything.

Did a few searches and did not see anything. Several years ago I saw one shut down the line at a carwash because of this "feature".

Do you have an alarm system in your Accord?

Don't think so, we bought it used. If I get in and use the remote to lock the doors and then open a door no alarm sounds. I guess it does not have one?

If you have a keyless entry system this is usually part of a security system and would be what is locking the doors. I looked at Honda parts for a keyless entry for a 96 Accord and they show it as an add on. Is yours factory?

The fob reads Executive Keyless entry and security
on back Lock=Locks doors, Unlock=Unlock Doors, Press Option 2 Seconds
Made by Omega. Looks after market.

I found the owners manual online. It reads,
Passive Automatic Locking Of Doors 30 Seconds After Ignition Is Turned "Off" : This
feature can be turned on or off from inside the Executive Control Module. The Executive 2300, 2500, and 3000 can be programmed to automatically:
1) Lock the doors 30 seconds after the ignition switch is turned "off".
2) The doors will automatically relock 90 seconds after unlocking from the transmitter, unless the ignition switch is turned on. This prevents accidental unlocking of your doors.

Wonder where the control module is normally installed?

I don't know if yours is the same as mine, but my Honda alarm module was located under the dash directly under the steering wheel. On the module, there was a switch with three options. Option one, did not set an alarm at all, Option two set the alarm with keyfob only and option 3 set alarm and locked doors automatically. Hope this helps.
