96 accord no spark

Default 96 accord no spark

i have a 96 accord EX (f22b1) 5 speed that had a cracked head. we replaced the head but never got a spark out of the distributor. we replaced the ignition coil, icm, cap, plugs, rotor, and wires but still cant get any spark. the car started for a split second once but havent gotten any spark since then. i have reached my wits end.

Got a timing light? Or how did you verify you don't have spark? (maybe spark is OK & fuel's missing?)

What about firing order? Is it possible the plug wires are mixed up?

No, i do not have a timing light. Ive tested the spark plugs, wires, and cap and no spark will come out. Ive done all of these tests; Part 4 -Honda Igniter, Ignition Coil Test (1.5L, 1.6L, 2.2L, 2.3L) everything is testing OK. Except for when it comes to test the cap, and wires. i am Definitely getting fuel. As i said we got her to start for a second, and right before it started the distributer shocked my boyfriend. (Dont know if thats good or bad) The thing that gets me is i got 10k miles off this car with a cracked head, and never had issues with the distributor. Its in time, on compression stroke, getting fuel. But NO SPARK. Been going at this no spark issue for the last week.

There's two ways the spark plugs could go, 1432 which if in this firing order, when the car is in top dead center, the rotor hits the first spark plug. (This is the way i have it now) the other way, is by the book. Which i dont have at the top of my head.

There are a couple of ignition sensors down behind the crankshaft pulley on your gen Accord. Since you had the head off, is it possible that they got unplugged?. The connector is behind the timing cover.

Theyre all plugged in. The car did start for a brief moment. Keep the ideas rolling though.

All inline 4-cyl firing order is 1-3-4-2

Cylinder #1 is over on the side with the external drive belts, so don't read em from left-to-right. Well, actually, it IS left-to-right as if you're sitting in the driver's seat...

Honda "traditionally" has a mark molded into the distributor cap at post #1. Probably something like the letter "A". Maybe not if you have an off-brand cap??

Standing alongside the right-front fender, looking at the distributor, it spins clockwise.

Got your message, but was out of town the last few days.

Get the firing order set properly.

Check for engine code(s). You can plug in a scanner behind the ashtray, or you can check the OBD1 way with a paperclip. See the link in this thread for checking engine codes.
