I have just started experiencing rough idle on my accord. It is 96 auto lx.

When the car is on and stopped the engine idles rough, almost a vibrating like feeling in the steering wheel. It will idle at right below or right above 500 rpm and does not surge. Once the gas is it the car drives as it regularly does. This only happens when fully stopped. When shifted into neutral it feels better but still sounds the same.

If it is in neutral, drive park etc. and i hit the gas slightly it gets better at around 700 rpm.

Take a closer look at your tachometer. The first mark past zero is 500 (not 250), so the second mark is 750.

You may want to clean both sides of the throttle plate. Clean the screen on the IACV. Also, the EGR ports tend to get clogged. The common diy thread on top of the gen tech help forum has links to fixes.

Also, does the check engine light turn on while driving?

 

never noticed that, i stand corrected it idles at 750. No check engine light.

 

Are the tune up items up to date?

I'd also inspect the motor mounts to be sure they are ok.
