96 LX - brake lights will not turn off
Noticed that my brake lights where still on after I got out of the car today. Found some pieces of some blue plug or stopper thing on my floor board but could not figure where it came from. Ended up pulling the fuse so my battery would not die.
Any ideas? |
Check to see if your brake stopper pad is still there.

nope...that must be the blue thing that is in many pieces.
What is a good idea for quick fix? |
Bingo....found a bolt to fir the hole on the shaft and it works...going to have to find a nut to keep it on though

Suggest getting the proper plug...hey it lasted ~17 years. If nothing else the OE plug will give the proper setting for the brake switch. If you go for the rig then know that the cruise may not work.
I've bought the OE plug from a local dealer for $2.15 plus tax. One minute install and done :) OE PN 46505-SA5-000 Note the new ones from the dealer are white. |
Im going to get the replacement for sure but at the time I needed a fix for it quick and it worked.

Oh, don't get me wrong.....I've used all kinds of things as a temp fix until I could get the plug....last time I was there I just went ahead and bought two as I figured one of my others would go at some point...and it did, wasn't the brake one but one of the ones on the clutch pedal.
