Maybe replace the distributor cap and rotor.

Does the code recur as soon as the key is turned on, or maybe after the engine has warmed up and been driven XX miles?

I'd say a real scan tool is needed to be able to get a "Freeze Frame" so you can find out Exactly what is causing the code.

The only other options are the injector resistor, the wiring/connection to the fuel injector. Valve clearance. Compression.

If the EGR manifold was blocked on 3 ports and only the #1 port was open, there might be too much EG at times leading to a over-lean miss. Clean the EGR manifold and ports.

good luck

Yes, pull the EGR manifold, clean manifold, and clean the 4 ports into the intake manifold. Don't enlarge the ports w/ a drill bit as they are different sizes to achieve correct EG flow.

good luck
