Default 97 Accord Code

My Check Engine light illuminated and the D4 light blinks on my '97 Accord. I plugged a paperclip into the two prong outlet under the glove box. I rec'd the following blinking lights

Check Engine 7 short blinks
D4 9 short blinks

Please help me figure out the code and the issue.

Moved to the proper section.

ECU/CEL - 7 is for the TPS

TCU/D4 - is for the Counter shaft or transmission speed pulse generator open or shorted.

For the future. In this thread - at the top of this section, General Tech - has a lot of information:

Thanks for joining HAF

EDIT: If you can stop a parts store (autozone or other) they will scan for codes for free. The OBD-II codes they get ("P" and four digits) give a better clue as to what the issue might be. So get the actual code from them - not their description - and we might be able to norrow this down even more.

Your 97 also has the OBD-II diagnostic port behind the ash tray. Suggest going to Autozone, O'reilly's, etc. to get the trouble code(s) read.

OBD-II diagnostic trouble codes are more extensive and may help more narrowly define the trouble area(s) .
