Default '97 Accord - Good Buy?

I am looking at a '97 Accord EX with the 1.6 VTech engine with 108,000 miles on it. It is a good price compared to blue book.

I am wondering if this is a good buy? I have heard about Transmission problems, but it seems that the problems begin with transmissions after '98. I think the '97 has a different transmission.

So, all in all, is it a good buy?

Thanks for you help.

A '97 with a 1.6 liter engine can't be USA. So we'll have a hard time judging whether it's a good buy.

With that many miles you need to be sure the T-belt has been changed.
Maybe it is a 2.2 engine?
Those transmissions are pretty good generally, on the test drive just check for RPMflares between shifts, or really hard BANG shifts.

My error, it is a 2.2L VTech engine.

VTEC

No trans problems until 1998 so you should be fine on the trans.

How much?

$5200, 108,000 miles. Blue book private party is $5400 or so.
