Hello..The Automatic transmission in my 97 accord V6 4 door (92 k miles)is slipping on accelleration and sounds as if it has a few parts floating around inside..I reasearched the threads here in the forum and it would seem as if I'll be doing a transmission change in the very near future.

On a scale of 1 to 10, How much of an ordeal is the transmission Removal and installation? I have the Haynes book and the way it reads its pretty straight forward..Are any factory/Honda tools required for the job?? Prices I'm finding for a re man Transmission are around 1500 bucks minimum or 800 bucks for a soft parts rebuild...To high or a good deal?

I know many of you on this forum (particularly the moderators) have BOATLOADS of real time experience working Honda's and know what's involved so if you have any insight on the tramsmission R&R I'd really appreciate any advice.

I alsosaw a reply from a moderator in another post on this site asking another guy with a toasted automatic if his car (or transmission) was still under warranty and specifying UNDER 110 K miles???

I now this is a pipe dream but is there some factory warranty that covers the transmission for that long that I don't know about??Or is therea Factory TSB that covers the transmission for that long?? Please post the info if anyone knows of such a thing as I only have 92k miles on this car and it would be covered under that type of arrangement!!

Thank You!!

RE: 97 accord v6 automatic transmission Questions
it's not that hard, it's pretty straight forward, especially if you have a lift.

the warranty you are referring to is for 6th gen accords, your accord isa 5th gen...sorry!
