Update:
battery tested good at the auto parts store, so its not the battery
engine light remains on
I removed the oil cap to observed what happened in there when I cranked the engine over....no movement of anything. Could this be a bad timing belt?
I am towing the car to the auto parts store to get a reading of the engine light message code, soon enough.
Will update soon.
any insight or advice what to check/do/look for would be appreciated.

With the oil cap open, you can SEE the camshaft, right? If you can, and it doesn't spin, that's bad news.
If you simply can't see the camshaft, then the timing belt is still an open question. I don't know what kind of baffles are in there to block your view.

OK, I just seen behind my ashtray the slot for the reader to get the codes. it looks like a computer jack or something, like how you plug in a computer monitor to the computer. is this it?
so I take a paper clip and stick it in there? I tryed that and nothing flashed when I put the key to II. Please help me do this!
thank you guys

Did I miss where you said if it's a 4-cyl or V-6?
Camshaft is #14 in this picture (4-cyl). I expect it should be visible through the open oil cap. If the external belts & pulleys are spinning (with the starter) and nothing moves inside, that's a bad sign.
The TPS is on the throttle body, directly opposite the cable drum. Look for loose/dirty/corroded wiring connections.

update:
I rechecked and this is the update. Please disregaurd last above post.
8 short flashes
2 second or 3 pause then:
9 short flashes
2.5 second pause
7 Long flashes
so there are 3 coeds: 08, 09, and 70 I think!
also the red SRS light flashes: 8longs and 5short flashes

code 8 = TDC sensor (inside distributor)
code 9 = CYP sensor (inside distributor)
Look for dirty/loose/corroded wiring harness connections at distributor.
Remove distributor cap & look for EVIL brown dust inside - especially below the shroud.
code 70 = auto-trans problem
It's normally accompanied by the D4 lamp flashing its own code. The only one I see that doesn't have any D4 code is when the trans controller isn't getting a good tachometer signal from the engine controller. That could also be related to bad connections at the distributor.

my Honda is a 1997 EX V6. and i saw noting move when my friend tried to start it. but i could have over looked, though nothing obvious was moving, unless i have to use a flash light to see way down. but on the surface, nothing.
If I replaced the distributor cap do you think it will be a fix?
i wonder how much a shop would charge to fix all this
oh and a squirrel was in my engine today when I opened it. he was chewing on a black line coming out of my engine part that reads V6-the black hose with red writing. it is frayed but not completely chewed. i pissed a little on the engine to keep them away.lol
