Default '98 Accord Fuse Issue

Okay, so I've done extensive research about this issue. My car was stuck in park; only way to release was to manually release the lock; Horn doesn't work on my car all of a sudden so I'm assuming it's the fuse for the Horn Relay/Brake Light fuse located under the hood in the fuse box. I've tested the brake and break lights come on on the tails, but not the Head Lamp above the trunk.

My question is does anyone have a visual diagram of the fuse box? I looked on the fuse box and noticed there was one that said Horn Relay when I look at the box cover to match with fuse in place it looks like one of the big BLACK fuses not one of the small fuses everyone's use to seeing like 7.5, 10, 15, 20 AMP fuses the small colored ones. Is this the right one? And if so how much do these usually run and can I get it from Autozone?

Thanks.

That black box labeled Horn Relay isn't a fuse at all. It's the horn relay.

If your brake lamps (any of them) work at all, then it isn't a fuse problem. It also isn't abad brake pedal switch, which is a common reason for your problem.

So that leaves a bad shift release solenoid (near the shift lever) or broken wiring for it.

---------
Losing the center brake lamp while the other brake lamps work,as tobe a burned out bulb or open wiring back there.

Okay do anyways I checked everything today. When the car is on and I press on the brake pad; the brake lights don't come on; there's nothing wrong with the bulbs 'cause if I switch the hazard lights on they blink on and off. So it has to be the Brake Switch then, right? Also my horn doesn't work; I noticed today when i try to engage the alarm with the remote it wouldn't sound.

OK, so I was basing my response on you saying the brake lights DID come on except for the center one.

If NONE of the brake lamps work, and the bulbs are OK, then we're back to it MAY BE the brake pedal switch.

But remember... The hazard flashers use the turnsignal lamps, not the brake lamps. So make sure the BRAKE lamp bulbs are OK. Better yet, just use a scrap of wire to jumper the brake pedal switch to see if it all works.

Oh yeah you're right! LOL Sorry, I was confused between the turn signals and actual brake lamps; neither work then it's gonna be the fuse? Can you show me an actual picture of what the fuse/relay looks like? So I have a general idea. Thanks I'll check on the Brake switch later on today and any pictures on what the brake switch looks like or diagram?

#4 is the switch for the brake lamps & it also cancels the cruise control. It's up near the pivot of the brake pedal.

The picture also covers manual tranny cars, so your car obviouslydoesn't have #16 clutch pedal.

******UPDATE****** I bought some new 20A fuses and replaced it. It worked! I was able to get out of park; horn works, and break lights work, too, once fuse is replaced with a new one.. So it's not the Brake Switch. Problem is now, the fuse blows within a matter of minutes. I'm assuming there's a short in my horn, because right when I enable to alarm with the remote and the horn sounds on the stock alarm; afterwards it stops working, so when the horn blows, it blows the fuse. somewhere can someone tell me how to disconnect it temporarily for now? I'm not in a rush to get it fixed until next week when I have extra money; help would be appreciated. Pictures/Diagrams if possible.. Thanks

Try unplugging the horn itself, directly. That would at least tell you if it's the horn.

If it continues to blow fuses, then it must be a short in the wiring somewhere. If it stops blowing fuses, then you have a bad horn. So it still makes noise, but it draws enough current to blow fuses.

Oh yeah... what about electrical connections to the alarm? Maybe disconnecting that can tell you something whether it continues to blow fuses or not.

I'm going to assume it's not the horn now, John. Here's the problem - just now I replaced the 20A fuse again got in my car turned it on and the stepped on the brake, then as I did I pressed on the shifter button to remove from park it worked! Put it back "P" and try it again - it's stuck. I go and check the fuse under the hood it's blown. It blows a fuse as soon as I hit the break pedal. Could this mean I need to replace the break switch now or is there a short somewhere? Thanks in advance.
