Thanks for the responses. I think my car does have an after market alarm. I have had the car for years and had the battery out/replaces many times andnever had an issue with the alarm. I have rechecked all the grounds, and still no luck. I guess I have to break down and take it to a Honda specialist or a dealer. I am afraid that they will start replacing things until they fix the problem.

If you can find the alarm module & figure out where it's tied into the wiring, maybe you can remove it & figure out which wire(s) were cut into... then maybe you can put the wiring back the way it's supposed to be.

Or at least find what specific type of alarm is in there, then find someone who installs that kind...

Aftermarket alarms can be wired into the car so many ways, a Honda specialist might not be any better than an alarm installer.

And one more, after all grounds were verified (t-stat on the 5th gen is most important but you have a newer one) Could the tps and map sensor connectors be switched. Seen posts where they have been switched on 6th gen's.

Did you ever find what the problem was? I have a 1995 Accord EX 2.7L that is doing the same thing. I just rebuilt the engine and now it only starts and stays running with the code reader installed.

The OBD reader is probably supplying ground to the ECM, enabling it to start. Check the ECM ground wire G101, see attached pic. for location on your V6.

RChonda121 - This thread is a few years old, so he might not reply with the solution. I wish everyone would post their results to help people like you with similar problems.

I would start a new thread to get some advice from us. Hopefully you will post the solution on your thread once you figure it out.

Here is a similar thread with resolution confirmed, which was ground G101.

Thank you for the reply. The G101 is attached and seems to have good continuity. I also checked the fuses listed on the thread with the similar issue, they are good. While reinstalling the thermostat housing, I did break a bolt. I had to drill it out and I used different bolts I had on hand to install. I will check over everything again and post what I find.

That's again.

You were correct. It was the G101. There was some corrosion on the attach point and the bolt was also corroded. Used a new bolt and cleaned the attach point and works perfect now.

Thank you for your help.
