Default 98 Upper Ball Joints

Hey all I've tried searching on here and through google but I keep coming up short. I have a 98 Accord that has a bad upper ball joint in the front and would like to know if I can replace just the ball joint or do I have to replace the whole control arm? I am planning to replace all the ball joints (upper and lower) in the front as well as the tierod ends just due to the fact the car has 180k miles on it; preventive maintenance one could say heh.

I'll be honest I've already purchased all the parts but my wife called the dealer a few days ago and they told her that the upper ball joints could not be serviced because they have had experiences with the ball joints falling back out once they've been pressed in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I"ve seen vidoe (youtube) of guy pressing the UBJ out to install and adjustable UBJ, so I know it can be done. It is very tight and difficult to press out w/ manual press. You could remove and take to a machine shop.

see youtube video "How to Install an upper ball joint on a 1995 Honda Accord"

Why not replace the entire upper arm? Doesn't look like savings worth all the effort.

good luck

The last time i replace the whole upper control arm and ball joint assy, only cost like 50 bucks for the whole thing, you could get one from E-Bay for like 30 buck and free shipping
