Default 99 Accord EX 4 cylinder cooling problem?

Hello everyone,

Today I was in stop and go traffic and noticed that the temperature was creeping up slowly till I eventually pulled over when it was about a quarter of the way to the top. I waited awhile and started driving again and once the traffic was flowing the temp came down. I got home and checked the relays and they are all fine. I tested both fans and they work but the A/C fans spins about twice as fast as the radiator fan (driver side ) is this normal or is the fan starting to maybe crap out? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

W/ AC load and slow fan slight overheating is likely.

I've not seen a fan slow down as you describe, but they both should turn at approx. same speed. It may be the blade is slipping on the shaft causing this. This would move little air.

Time for a new radiator fan assy. Check ebay, amazon, et al for best deal. These are not repairable.

good luck

Thank you so much for your input. I already ordered the fan on EBay this morning. Once it arrives and I install it I will respond with an update.
Thanks again and have a great weekend.

Hello everyone,
I just wanted to write back with an update. I received the condenser fan ( driver side ) or the smaller of the two fans and installed it. It was really easy to replace. I just disconnected two harnesses and took off 3 ( 10mm) bolts. One of the harnesses just clips to the body of the condenser fan. I slipped the new fan in and the fan is spinning really fast at about the same rate as the bigger fan now. No more over heating issues. Thanks for all your help. You guys are awesome. Have a great weekend.
