Default AC delete guide (1994 LX)

My car hasn't had functional AC in six years, and I know the DX model had a short belt that would make an LX model function without it. The system is empty right now and I live in a cold part of the country already, anybody have a link to some sort of guide on completing a removal of the whole system? If not I can probably figure it out myself, I'm just looking for a little guidance

All depends on "how far" you want to go?

Personally, if the compressor pulley isn't locked up (meaning the alt belt would burn up) then I wouldn't worry with it....just me?

Yeah, it just annoys me having all of that useless stuff sitting under the hood, especially with the compressor possibly seizing at some point randomly. Again, I just don't need it. I'd want to go as far as removing the compressor and condenser, mounting bracket, high/low lines and the button for AC in the cabin, at the very least.

Again, IMHO the gain vs the effort ?

You can pull the compressor....better get the lines so they don't "flop" around under the hood. Then the mounting bracket. A shorter belt, I think some of the 5th gens came without AC so that will help in getting the correct size.

In the "common diy threads" sticky at the top of this section there is a link to a manual you can download for free for the 94 accord.

Its not that hard to do, basically just unbolt the compressor and the lines. If you can't find a belt from an accord without AC you can just measure the length of belt you need and go to a napa or the like and they can just find one that will work.

I just looked... Even the 1994 DX has AC. So you'll have to figure out the length.

www dot hondaautomotiveparts dot com
click "PARTS"
put in the car's information, but try earlier years.
Near the top of the list of CATEGORIES, you'll see all the A/C stuff... or not.

If I remember correctly it was the base spec DX model. I know I saw a part number around here somewhere. I just want more space to work in the bay, and like I said even summer isn't that hot around here. Not Florida hot. #.#
Plus, it's something I can do for nearly free while I save for bushings and coilovers.

Check rockauto. They have a non-AC belt for the engine I think all could have AC, but could be ordered w/o.

I have one in my garage somewhere that I used to bypass compressor while rebuilding AC system (new compressor seal, new evaporator, new receiver/drier).

good luck
