Default Acceleration sound??

I have a 1996 honda accord and just recently it has started to make a weird noise more often than not when I accelerate from a dead stop. It sounds like a rock is hitting the bottom of my car right underneath where the pedals are located. I can also feel a thud in this area when the noise occurs. The sound also sometimes happens when I am driving at low speeds but I have not heard it at all while driving at higher speeds (highway driving). What could be the problem so I can get to fixing it??

Thank you.

Welcome!
I'll move this to General Tech where you'll get more help.

Can you make the noise while stopped, by shaking the car? If so, try to pinpoint the location.

Does it make that sound/thud when you turn the wheel sharply? Can you feel anything through the steering wheel? Broken CV Joints can make similar sounds and thuds if theyre worn out. You can check by mileage, typically you change a CV joint at 75,000 miles or so, you can look behind the front wheels and inspect the CV boots to see if the rubber is cracked or grease has leaked out. Otherwise it could be a lose suspension or old and cracked rubber bushings.
