Accord 1992: need help identifying and understanding the beast
Dear All, this is my first post. And I hope I would be of some use but as usual starting with a question.
Background:
Couple of months back I bought a honda accord 1992 (dream came true). It was my first buy. Like most dumb-wits I did not look into what VIN numbers and engine numbers inform us and if they confirm the seller's claims or not.
The import document says its a 1992 saloon with:
VIN : JHMCB35400C125327
Engine : F20A42006007
The branding on the rear of the car says that it is i-vtec. The following are my questions:
1. I cannot seem to correlate the year of manufacturing from the VIN with 1992 neither from VIN decoders nor from the manual. Please help me in this.
2. I researched and found to the best of my knowledge that the first VTEC engines were F22B1 (1993-1996) which is currently installed in my accord. My question is that the stock engine in this car was F20A4, is F20A4 a VTEC engine? I need this mystery solved so that I understand the i-VTEC branding on the car. Kindly fill me in on F20A4 and F22B1 engines in simple words and their vtec lineage.
3. How to confirm SOHC or DOHC from engine or VIN numbers?
4. What kind of trim and grade is my accord?
I would be grateful if someone can help me get peace of mind and knowledge too

The OP may be from Pakistan.
You're not going to find that as a valid VIN with American Honda database.
Based on the VIN, it appears to be Left-handed drive, Made in Japan, 4 door, possibly a MT. Appears to be a 1992 model, initially sold in the following countries/area: Bolivia, Canary Islands, El Salvador, Finland, Haiti, Gibraltar, Greece - (KW).
The 2.0 liter engine it originally came with was a SOHC.

Thanks redbull. It is actually right hand drive. Yes it is made in japan, 4door, passenger car. I just cannot know how to decode the country code from VIN. As per 1992 manual, 12th digit on VIN is the year which is '1' in my case which says 1991 make. This contradiction is confusing me.
Secondly, the vtec branding on the car implies that the fourth generation accord did come with i-vtec engines but i cannot confirm from vin or engine numbers.
May be i should look into japanese database.
Thanks for help

After you said it was right-handed drive, I checked again.
It looks like the car may be a 1991 Accord EXI, sold in the country/area: Barbados, Cyprus, Fiji, Guyana, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Malaysia, Malawi, Malta, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua, Seychelles, South Africa, Sudan - ().
For the parts emblem available for that model, I see no VTEC emblem. Also, looking at the parts diagram, I don't see a VTEC spool valve. I would say the original engine it came with does not have VTEC.
