Accord almost stalls when I come to a stop?
Hi,
I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I have a 1999 Honda Accord with a 4 cylinder v- tec engine. I read the forum that had talked about this issue, but nothing seems to be fixing the problem. The problem is that the car comes to a very low idle, almost to a stall when i come to a stop. The car has a new distributor in it and i have changed the 02 sensor down where the cat is. New air filter, plugs, wires, cap and rotor but the problem still exists. Any Ideas? Thanks, Jerry.

The procedure for idle adjustment is a bit strange compared to some other cars. Unplug the IACV & set the "base" idle which is a lot lower than the operating idle. Then let the PCM "re-learn" the idle.

Get the error code for the check-engine light. AutoZoned-type places usually read them for free. But get the actual code number, not just the guy's verbal description.
The way the idle-control works, if your "base" idle is wrong, the control system will open or close the IACV to get the correct operating idle. So you THINK your idle is set OK. But that puts the IACV off away from it's "sweet spot" and it has more trouble dealing with situations like coasting down from higher RPM.
