Default Air Compressor Advise

See lots of fliers selling air compressors for rachet/socket type work for $200 or so. Power about 1HP to 3HP. How do these compare with the actual air tools used in the auto repair shops. Would these 3HP tools be good enough for personal garage work on own car or need to go upto 10HP etc. to have decent going ons with the repair work.

My thoughts:

Home/shop needs about 5 CFM supply at 100 PSI. Tire dealers use 10 HP, usually two. You will need hoses and a regulator. Be careful to select a unit that does not exceed about 10 amperes full load current or you will trip electrical panel circuit breakers. The 5 CFM needs to exceed the usuage of your tool.
