What model is your Accord, 4 or 6 cylinder, LX, EX, etc?

Edit: also, 2-doors or 4-doors?

birdman01 06-27-2012 04:48 PM

its a coupe, 2.4l i vtec and idk if its a lx or ex? it has all black leather interior, sun roof, all steering wheel controls?

Your Accord most likely is an EX-L.

This Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is an old one that was superseded. Honda use to sell replacement printed circuit boards (pcb) for the fix. Different trim models had different pcb part numbers. I just checked and Honda no longer sells the boards. An aftermarket seller use to have them too; but, that was several years ago and I can't find it listed anymore. (I included the old TSB for informational purposes only.)

The superseded TSB only refers to replacement of the whole audio unit.

This other thread is if your unit is a similar type and have a no display problem, and you want to try to repair it yourself. But, do so at your own risk.

Hate to e a bother but should I just get a aftermarket stereo? If so how much would it be for the head unit and installation you think?

It's not a bother. :) You can replace it with an aftermarket head unit. You will also need the aftermarket dash kit.

I really don't know the costs, as it can vary. I haven't installed an aftermarket unit in quite some time. Check out Crutchfield.com for some information and pictures, they sell everything you need and provide installation instructions. Usually, Crutchfield gives you the stereo wiring harness for no extra charge to plug into your factory harness. But, you can buy from other sellers too.

birdman01, I had the same issue and it was a $10 fix. Not sure if this is a day late and a dollar short but I thought I'd share.
