It has to do with the transition into or out of VTEC. Look at your VTEC hi and low maps to see how the correction veries between the 2 at the engagement and disengagement points. Set the unmatch to the difference between the maps as a starting point. If there is still a harsh engagement, back the unmatch off a point at a time toward 0.
It sounds to me like you are turbo and your issue is more caused by the VTEC engagement in relation to the turbo going into boost. If this is the case, I'd suggest going to a slightly lower pressure wastegate spring and getting back to the boost pressure that you want with a boost controller. This will make the wastegate operation more accurate and quicker. Make sure that VTEC is engaged before the turbo hits boost.
