Question Automatic trans fluid/ what to use?

Hello everyone, I need some quick advice. I am swapping out the auto trans in my accord. I hear horror stories of using anything other than the Honda trans fluid. Will any other brand work? Seeing how fun this was to remove and reinstall, I want to be sure it last as long as possible. thanks in advance.

Use Honda ATF; I'm unaware of any other brand of ATF which is licensed by Honda to meet their specific criteria for lubricity (which varies by transmission maker due to wet clutch design) and flow characteristics.

Again, I'm a fan of Honda auto trans fluid in these.

Some have used maxlife (I think) and say that they have not had issues.

You're in TX, is there a carquest auto near you? If so they should have the Honda trans fluid for $7.99 a quart.

EDIT: I see shipo posted as I was typing

Not sure about "bumper to bumper" - I know that carquest auto parts carries Honda trans fluid.

Have to step out for a few and go "be seen" - High School OT.com - Wake Forest to host soccer jamboree on Saturday

For my 97 Accord SE with an AT, I personally use Honda Fluid and change out 3 qts about every 5K miles or so. No issues with 198K miles on it. Good luck.

Every five thousand miles? Why on earth would you change the fluid so often?

My mistake, after checking my records I am going 10K-15K miles. Would you happen to know what milage Honda recommends for just a drain and fill?

Thanks!
