axle

when replacing the front driver side axle does the ball joint need to be removed?

RE: axle

Yes, damper fork, lower BJ, and tie-rod ball joint to allow knuckle to swing outboard over the axle shaft end.

If axle has never been removed, it may be stuck in the wheel bearing hub. Autozone has a tool (Front wheel hub bearing puller) that can be used to push the axle from the hub. You can hit the shaft end w/ a brass or plastic hammer, but not steel to avoid damage.

good luck

RE: axle

will it require a front end alignment

TexasHonda 07-27-2008 05:08 PM

RE: axle

No need for alignment since you have not disturbed any alignment components.

Suggest purchasing a Haynes or Honda manual to assist. Check Online Manuals Diy post for possible download manual.

good luck
