Brake pedal goes to floor after changing master cylinder

RE: Brake pedal goes to floor after changing master cylinder
I used a mityvac to bleed brakes by suction, but too much air gets sucked in thru the bleed screw threads. I put a bead of grease around there to improve it, but still leaked enough air so I was never sure whether any air was actually coming from the lines.
Then I got a Motive pressure bleeder. That was way WAY better.
I believe you still have to bleed those.
Does she know you're talking like that???[&:]

... The good thing about the 2000 is, drum brakes in rear so only have to bleed the front two.

My wife is my bleeder tool. If I am working on her car, that means she is home. Therefore she can get her butt outside and mash down the brake pedal when I tell her to!

I installed those Russel Speed Bleeders that have a little spring operated check valve in them when I changed my brake fluid. They work great, you just crack them open and push on the pedal a few times or whatever it takes to get new fluid/no bubbles, then tighten the bleeder. The valve keeps air from getting sucked back in when you lift off the pedal.

Ahhhh....so I'm a big
Looks just like the bleeder on the disc brakes. I'd probably remove the wheel anyway the first time, just so I could see everything more clearly. Plus last time I just used a bucket to catch the brake fluid that squirted out. I didn't have a useable piece of hose lying around. My bucket catching the brake fluid method would not work with the wheels still on. I know....I need to go find some hose I could use. I just always forget about the simple things like that when I'm at the store.

For drum brakes the bleed valves are aimed so they'd squirt all over the suspension so you probably don't want to do that.

You would be amazed at what you can do with a funnel and a bucket! The fluid doesn't really spray out with much force. You just gotta have the funnel angled to catch it and drain it into the bucket. I know this is more trouble than a cheap hose, but I don't get to hardware stores very often.
