Default Can newer model engines be retrofit into older bodies?

The newer Honda Accord 4 cylinders had a timing chain vs. older Honda Accord 4 cylinder timing belt....
Can newer model engines be retrofit into older bodies?

I have a '96 in decent shape with bent valves from timing belt interference.

....If so, what years please?

Tx,
Bill

The newer Accord 4 cylinders with timing chains (7th, 8th, 9th generation Accords) cannot be easily or inexpensively retrofitted into your 96.

Don't make life harder than necessary! A head rebuild (~$250-$350) w/ new valves, stem seals, head shaved, valve adjusted should be all parts you need. New head gasket and you should be good to go.

Replace timing belt and water pump at this opportunity.

You would be unlucky to find piston damage due to valve impact.

good luck

TexasHonda Thanks for that.

I checked Rockauto and they seemed like they were running more in the $400 plus range. Do you have a better source please?

I'd replace any other gaskets I bother as well.

It seems to be burning some oil as well. It was a quart low after a few hundred miles. My son has been driving it to his job.

To answer your question yes, they can be(talking about the k24). But it will cost you in the thousands to do. Hasport makes motormounts and axles, but required cutting and welding, plus wiring, ECU, would be a $4,000 or $5,000 swap.

I'm on Rockauto looking for heads right now. New head bolts, head gasket, valve cover gasket, alternator belt, timing belt, AC belt,...

...any others?

...I need to start a different thread or search. This has turned into a rebuild thread.

The 6th gen engines (f23) can go in with very little effort. Plus since the 6th gen auto trans cars were not the best honda trans.....these engines are cheaper than the f22's. There are several write ups on this that will help, there are a few members on here that have done this...plus there is a slight HP gain

But as TX stated, a simple head change would be just as easy. Do some more searching and I'd bet you can find a "re-built" head for less........then a call to a local machine shop might not hurt either.
