Can't find some parts for my 98 Accord EX V6
Hi all,
I went to Rock Auto, Auto Zone... I just can't seem to find the evap canister and evap vent valve... I was advised not to visit a junkyard but can someone tell me why? I mean if the car was totaled and it was mainly front damage, why assume that something in the rear bottom of the car is also damaged?
I currently have a leak so I need to get these parts so I can stop riding dirty - I need my inspection sticker ASAP.
Also, how long would you expect such a fix to take? I was told no longer than an hour by the head guy at Meineke. He also gave me a $290 quote. Thanks in advance all

I had my regular mechanic replace the canister shut valve for me, the job cost about 140$ for all parts and labor. I might have gotten a small price break because I was having something else done at the same time. But 150$ more seems like a lot extra.
RockAuto shows the parts under Emissions: Vapor Canister -Vapor canister (Standard Motor Products is less expensive than Wells/Airtex) and Vapor Canister Purge Valve - Dorman shut valve is less expensive than Wells/Airtex.
This link is for an Acura; but, are the same parts being replaced:
DIY: EVAP Canister & Shut Valve Replacement - AcuraZine Community
Depending on any corrosion on any metal parts and how fast you work, may take from 20 minutes to an hour or more.

Whoa $290 is ridiculous... guess they can tell someone who doesn't know about car parts soon as they see one. I didn't hear "purge" valve from the guy at Meineke though, just the evap canister and shut off valve, so before I go ahead and make this purchase I'd like to be absolutely sure these are both the same things and will be compatible with accord. Thanks again for the insight guys
