Question Car revs to 3500 on park?

Ok so my car just started revving once I start the car.. When its in park it automatically revs up to 3400. I cannot shift to any gears either. I would have to use the shift release with my key..

Is it my idle control valve? I cleaned it out but only dropped the rpms to 3000 from 3400. Or could the problem be something else like the throttle sensor?

Check engine light isnt on either..

I would remove the 7.5 amp backup/radio fuse in the engine bay fuse box for a minute. This will reset the ECU. See if that helps. I had to do this on my 95 to get it to idle normally.

Try removing the snorkel from the throttle body. Start the car. See if covering the bottom port on the inside of the throttle bore with your finger stabilizes the idle.

Hey I was checking into it and not sure what snorkel you are talking about? Is it the air intake you said to remove? Or that tiny little hose thats connected to the throttle sensor?

And if the idle goes down what will I be replacing?

Thanks for your help.

The snorkel is the large rubber hose that is held on the throttle body by a clamp.

When look inside the throttle body in front of the throttle plate, you will see two holes. Cover the lower one with your finger.

If that fixes the problem, you should tighten the FITV or replace it. There is a writeup in the DIY section called FITV cleaning. You just have to remove the cover, then tighten the FITV housing. See if that fixes the problem.

If you look at an OEM Parts site like hondapartsnow.com. It is under engine and the throttle body. It is #14 in the picture below. It is listed as VALVE ASSY., FAST IDLE

ok didnt have the tools and time to check fitv.. but i saw a problem with the throttle.. it is pretty much sticking when revving it but mostly when i rev it by pressing the gas (pedal feels stiff) but when i rev the throttle under the hood it doesnt stick as much..

i tried to put a little lube to loosen it but its still sticking which makes the rpms rev high.
