Not sure of your meaning, but I would leave o2 sensor plugged to harness until ready to remove, however it would likely work unplugged if engine will idle.

good luck

ok, just curious, i didn't unplug, so i don't know if car will run without.......btw, what's the sensor that is on pipe, i thought that was 02 sensor. I had to unplug it when i was changing the water hoses above my oil filter....

Sensor on "which" pipe? There should be only one O2 sensor.

good luck

ok, so i obviously am a newb, and not a mechanic....i took off that shield that says hot in front of the engine, where my 'headers' (i don't have headers) but those pipes go down to exhaust...that's where i thought my 02 sensor was, but nope not there, so where is it??? did i misunderstand, do I have to get under car to change??? I got the sensor today....

also, one of the bolts on that 'hot' shield, broke, how do i fix that????

the car should run ok, i can't hurt anything, can i? i knw it will get crap for mileage.....thoughts???? thanks! I can't change this out, until sunday now....

I'm pretty sure it is under the car.....about the back side of the engine. See #27 in pic.

If the bolt on the shield is broke off flush, I'd just leave it that way.

Well that was easy, 10 mins, hell setting up was more time consuming..........i pulled in, popped the hood, unhooked the bat, pulled the fuse........got under it, used the 02 tooll to remove, didn't really need it, i could have used a wrench....took it out, took the new one out, put the no seize on it, and screwed it back in. I used a wrench to tighten it down, plugged in connector, clicked it back on it's holder..........cleaned everything up, put the fuse back in, attached battery, fired it up!! Music to my ears, and no check engine light!!! I drove 15 miles, all good.........usually 5 mins after warm up and going down road, the CEL would come on. All's well!!! Thanks everyone for the tips......i'll get to fixing that broken nut, next weekend........ oh i got the 02 sensor from RA Denso(oem) $35 shipped.

Me, I'd let it go for a bit....you've got two more.

I drove my 95 for a while with only two of the three. Never got a "rattle" from the shield that I could tell or worry about. That is the worst thing you will get.....a metalic rattle - as the sheild rattles against the manifold. Heck many people don't even have it....I like to have it to keep heat off the ac line. At best, the two that are left, add some antiseize to them and call it a day.

If you get a rattle that you can't stand, well time to do something......figure a way to get the broken bolt out....a new/used manifold....ect.
