CEL - Code 43
#22
ok, so replaced that 02 sensor, reset the cpu, car drives like a champ, i get over 400 miles on a full tank of gas. I would have never thought the 02 sensor would cost me 50miles on a full tank. i think i love my car again!!!! NOW, here's an interesting problem, when the car is warmed up, i get that 'stutter', meaning the car doesn't idle rough, or die. Wheni presson the gas, i get no power, but if i let up on the pedal, and then press again, i'm good to go. i've also noticed, when this happens, if i just press down and not let up, i'll get a pop. Not loud, but just a pop, like a back fire......... other than that, the car is running like a champ!!! I have new plugs, cap, rotor, dist.......... maybe replacing the plugs, since i do have a year warranty on them and i replaced them back in jan/feb????

New development, last nite, i was flying down a bumpy road! real bumpy.....after i smoothed out, my CEL came on..........no overheat, nada, so i kept going the 10 mins i needed to......parked........came out 30 mins later, started up and drove home, no light......i guess i should check the code, but could the bumpy road have caused something??? thanks in advance!

well its code 43, and now it comes on 5-10 mins after car is warmed up......so now what, boss???? i'm in email convo with RockAuto right now, to see how to get the plugs and the 02 sensor swapped under warranty............BUT,.......they keep asking crazy questions............so i'm fighting that fight, and driving the car........i'm sooo bummed now....

Can you pull the connector and look inside both ends - looking for bent terminals or dirt/oil inside them. Aslo follow the wires from the O2 back towards the ECU looking for anything that looks pinched or burnt.

i'll try either today or tomorrow, i can get the cel to come on withing 5 mins of starting the car now...all it needs to do now is warm up......this sux......2 questions.....if i unplug the sensor, what will it do to car? hurt anything? run rough? not run? also, what can i clean connectors with? wd 40 ? brake cleaner?? or some other cleaner?? thanks!!

Since the code is "tripping" as soon as the car tries to go to closed loop, it is going into limp mode - so it will run the same with or without the connector connected.
I'd either use brake cleaner or elect cleaner. Re-lube the connection.
Did the O2 that you replaced come with the connector or was it a wire splice type?

it came with a connector, it's a Denso (oem) from Rockauto.....they are giving me a straight hassle about replacing it, saying, are you sure it's bad??? I haven't disconnected it yet, if it runs in limp mode, i'll still have power and get good gas mileage??? the car runs fine......i'm getting 380 to a full tank...and i have power to pass and get on fwy........just curious.......
