Check Engine Light

MY WIFE JUST INFORMED ME THAT HER 2001 ACCORD HAS HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS FIGURING IT WAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE MAINT. SCHEDULE. I TOOK IT OUT FOR A WEEK AND DISCOVERED THAT SOME OF THE POWER WAS MISSING. IS THIS MORE THAN LIKELY A AIR FILTER? SHE DRIVES MAINLY HIGHWAY MILES AND IS ONLY GETTING ABOUT 22 MPG. IF IN FACT IT IS THE AIR FILTER ANY SUGGESTIONS ON ONE TO GET THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF MPG AND SOME MORE GET UP. (54,000 MILES)
Get the code from the computer. Use this link to help http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1490107
since the car is a 2001 it is obd2....which means that the trouble codes are pretty much universal, and any autozone or checker shucks kragen will check the code for free...i doubt it has anything to do with the air filter...but a rediculously dirty filter would probably fire a trouble code. Im thinking a O2 sensor..
My God Michael, was that O2 senser made out of gold???
That price is completely OUTrageous...
