hai friends,
I have 1996 honda accord lx sedan, i did oil change and fuel system service at walmart and after that check engine light is on and they told me that it should be off within 50 to 100 miles but after that I driven it around 300 miles but it is not turned off. I went to certain service locations like MIDAS, TIREMAN, Honda service center and they are charging from 60 to 80 bucks to diagnoise it. Can anyone tell me the probable reason that why it is on and places to diagnoise it for a cheaper price?
thanks

Autozone or Advance Auto Parts will read the Check Engine code for free. Take your car to AutoZone or Advance and tell them your check engine light is on and ask them if they will pull the OBDII codes for you. Get the exact code #. It should look like "P0123". Post the exact code here and we can tell you what to check.
FYI: The OBDII connector should be behind your ashtray (at least I think it is)

P0301 is a misfire in Cyl #3. Unless there are codes P0300, P0302 & P0303 as well, I don't understand why they would tell you 2 and 3 have problems as well.
The fuel system service could have caused the CEL. Have Autozone reset the codes and see if it comes back.
EDIT: I'm moving this thread to the general help section. The new member area is for introductions.

If you reset the ECU, the codes will simply come back just as soon as it misfires again. Resetting/clearing the codes will NOT prevent it from immediately recording the same problem.
Jim .... I think that it might be possible that the fuel system treatment temporarily threw off the AF mixture and caused the misfires. I know that Seafoam is not really a fuel system cleaner, but it threw a CEL for me and a few others. If this is the case, the light shouldn't come back. If it does, we know that there is something wrong.
