clutch gave out on the freeway!!
so earlier this week, i noticed my clutch slipping, but i did the wrong thing, and waited to long! my clutch gave out on the freeway! i was going home from school, and i noticed my car wouldnt let me go past 60, and i would step on the gas, and rpm would just redline, and my speed constant, then next thing you know, i would drop to 40..30..20..couldn't find an exit so i had to pull to the shoulder..then when i tried to pull out again..nothing! crraaaap, luckily i upgraded my AAA and now i'm a plus member haha, so i was towed all the way from sacramento to stockton, about 45 minute drive, but wow, what a scary experience!
so heres where i need your help..i've been searching around on clutch kits, and i need to know whats the best route to go with.. and finding a garage that would have the cheapest labor rate is going to tough, i've heard at least 200-400$ grrrr
well heres what i found..

RE: clutch gave out on the freeway!!
If you're spending the money, you might as well go with the brand name. I haven't done any clutch shopping before, but I have heard of exedy.
Call a bunch of shops around town and ask how much they would charge. That way you get the best deal. The old fashionedyellow pages work best for this I've found.
The labor will be high as the shop has to remove either the transmission, or the engine to access the clutch.

Here's a good chance to upgrade it .... Exeddy as mentioned or Fidanza clutches are also excellent. For a DD, I wouldn't go past a Stage 1 upgrade though because the engagement would be too sharp to be comfortable. Stage 1 is similar to a sports car's clutch.

^^x2, exeddy would be a good one, personally I've never gotten a bad clutch and of the ones I've replaced they all gave me plenty of life so I think that finding a shop is a bigger concern. And as mentioned it will be a lot of labor (estimate at 6-8 hours) unless you want to attempt it yourself.

yeah labor is going to be whack! haha, the garage where i usually get my oil changed and other mainteance work is charging $532 for the labor if i supply my own parts, i didnt call the honda dealer yet, because i'm pretty sure its going to be way more than that, time to bring out the yellow pages like 00accord mentioned..
