clutch pedal slop

My clutch pedal has about one half to a full inch of slack in it. I know that my car has a hydraulic clutch so it can't be a cable that is loose. it doesn't worry me very much because every gear still engages but I worry that the clutch may be wearing out because today I put the car in 2nd gear from 1st coming around a turn (albeit under full throttle) and the clutch slipped until I let off the gas pedal. This has happened more than once in the past as well. (Apologies for the run-on, I'm dictating on my phone)
My question is, are there any bolts in the pedal assembly that I should tighten, or am I looking at a new clutch?

There are a few things you can verify and check...then adjust. Do you have a service manual for this car.
