Default code p0715 on a 01 honda civic

I have a 01 honda civic with code p0715 This civic will run for 20-30 miles then it will fall on its face no power at all, sometimes it will even pop and crack like it is backfiring. I have replaced a sensor in the back side of the transmission which Air Port Honda said was the p0715 Turbine/Input sensor and still have the same problem as before after replacing it. Someone told me the Turbine Sensor is on the front of the transmission. I explained to Airport and they said after I open the pack I could not exchange it. I also put a crankshaft sensor in it but I still have the same problem. Any help ?

Suggest purchasing an emanual form ebay seller automanualsource for $21.99. This will have diagnostics for P0715. I checked and he's got your manual.

I checked w/ google and only hint I found was that on earlier models, 96-97 Civic, P0715 was a mainshaft speed sensor fault. A relatively easy fix.

good luck

For the previous generation Civic (1996-2000), 6th generation, there was a Honda technical service bulletin (tsb). That bulletin called for replacing the automatic transmission fluid and changing the linear solenoid due to possible contamination. If that didn't fix it, it may be due to a broken spring internal to the transmission and the transmission needed replacement. Here is the tsb:

For your 2001 (7th generation Civic), the linear solenoid is a different part number. Although there was no specific tsb for your model year for that, you may or may not want to try the similar procedures of draining and refilling with Honda ATF and replacing the linear solenoid to see if there is any difference. An alternative would be to try cleaning the screens of the linear solenoid; but, still drain and refill the ATF.
